Terms of commission
These terms apply to drawing and writing work commissioned from Service Trailline. They are written for professional services, not for software licences or shop sales.
Acceptance
A commission begins when we send a written estimate and you confirm it by email, together with the 40% deposit described on our rates page. Browsing this website does not create a contract. If a purchase order from a university or charity is required, say so before we reserve the drawing week.
The work
We prepare figures, captions, diagrams, and short briefing notes from materials you supply. We do not collect primary data, run surveys, or act as the independent evaluator unless a separate contract says so. You remain responsible for the accuracy of the monitoring extracts and for any claims made to a funder.
Intellectual property
On full payment, you receive a licence to use the delivered figures and notes in the named grant report, related board papers, and the programme’s own archive. We retain the right to reuse methods, templates, and anonymous process descriptions. We will not publish your unpublished numbers. Draft files remain our working papers.
Your materials
You warrant that you have the right to share the workbooks, quotes, and photographs you send. Participant quotes appear in a pack only when you confirm they may be used in that report context.
Liability
Our liability for a commission is limited to the fees paid for that commission. We are not liable for a funder’s decision, a delayed institutional sign-off, or for conclusions a panel draws from figures you approved. Nothing in these terms limits liability for death or personal injury caused by negligence, or for fraud.
Confidentiality
We treat grant files as confidential and keep them only as long as needed for the commission and lawful record-keeping. We do not upload your workbooks to public galleries.
Governing law
These terms are governed by the laws of England and Wales, and the courts of England and Wales have exclusive jurisdiction. The studio is in the United Kingdom.
